Thoughts on the Ending...

Sorry -- no separate html pages for this one, because there's not enough information yet! Or maybe I'm just getting lazy...... ^_~ Either way, sorry for the actual length of the page, but I'm getting very tired of typing out codes and tables.

Thoughts on Krelian's ending......

This one can be interpreted a lot of different ways...... But mainly, only his quote "The only one who could have forgiven me... is gone now..." leaves room for debate. Who is Krelian talking about?

  • Amber:
  • I disagree when people say he meant Sophia. Elly was right there in front of him -- although she doesn't call herself 'Sophia', she is the same woman he knew way back then! Besides...... Krelian did not cause any hurt to Elly. I believe he meant Ramsus. After you save Kahr from the Merkava, he disappears. You see that he finally comes to terms with himself in a flashback while talking to Queen Zephyr, but that's all we know about his fate. Where did he go? What happened to him?

Krelian caused Ramsus a lot of pain, far more than he ever caused Fei, in my opinion. Almost all of Krelian's sins fell onto three people (other than himself, of course) -- Fei, Elly, and Ramsus. Fei and Elly were with Krelian, but what about his 'son'? An image of a baby floated across the screen when Krelian said those words...... Ramsus has disappeared...... So logically (and remember, we're talking about my weird form of logic here!), all of these signs would point toward Ramsus as "the only one who could forgive [him]."

Other than that...... Well, I think Krelian did deserve to walk with god eventually. It was a nice surprise to see him transform into an angel! He finally got his wish...... and I suppose there was really no other way for him. It would have been very hard for him to return to the surface (and humanity) with all of the blood on his hands, and besides...... all he would have had was memories like Elly said.

Thoughts on Fei and Elly's ending......

  • Amber:
  • I thought they could have done more with this one, actually. But overall, the explanations just before the anime scenes were enough for me. ^_~ I don't like the fact that they had to leave it off though...... It's pretty obvious that Elly and Fei are going to end up married for the rest of their lives, etc, but...... well, did anyone else think of Aladdin (Disney movie) when they heard Fei's voice? Heehee...... I liked Elly's though! And Krelian's...... well, I liked the Japanese version better. But that's beside the point......

Elly shouldn't have felt guilty about trying to sacrifice herself though. ^^ I understand where she was coming from, but Fei was right -- as long as someone is healed by her action, it isn't wrong, or selfish, even if that person is herself.

Thoughts on the ending in general......

  • Amber:
  • The ending really reminded me of Final Fantasy VI. Ether disappeared from the world after Deus was destroyed...... just like the magic/Kefka thing in the other game...... Well, I'm not complaining. Ether wouldn't really be of as much use once the cycle of the Mother and the Contact was broken. But the fact that every slave generator in the world was linked to the Zohar..... well, it's plausable -- if you have a limitless energy source, of course you're going to use it! -- but do they have backup generators, so their gears will still work? And the Yggdrasil, and every other machine in the world?

Will Elly and Fei still be reborn again and again, but without their memories? (The answer is probably no, but I can't be sure... ^_~) The ending left a lot of unanswered questions, but that's to be expected -- this is Square we're talking about here! It certainly explained more than FFVII did though......
