Major Conflicts - Aveh and Kislev

I think this war has been going on since the beginning of both countries! ^^ At the beginning of the game, just after the introduction animation, the summary is basically this - Aveh and Kislev have been fighting each other on and off for centuries. The wars never really got them anywhere until they found a new type of technology - gears. The machines were located on both sides of the border, and as such both called in the Ethos to conduct digs for these new weapons, while still pursuing the war. Some time later, Kislev found more advanced models, and the tides of war turned in their favor. At this time, the Gebler organization approached Aveh, and with their strength, Aveh was once again able to match Kislev. At the moment, the two countries are at a stalemate. It doesn't look like either one will prevail, but if Bart manages to regain his throne, the wars will finally be over.

Major Conflicts - Solaris and Shevat

The war between these two aerial cities has been going on for five hundred years -- ever since the Nisan-Solaris War and the beginning of the Diabolos Invasion. They share nothing in common, and in fact have opposing beliefs in almost every case. But the main difference is in their policies concerning the surface. While Shevat wishes for peace and freedom for the land dwellers, Solaris views them only as fodder for their work forces. Shevat doesn't have much of a military, but it has speed on its side. The city is constantly roaming the skies, evading Solaris's military and saving Lambs from their enemy whenever possible. But the cities rarely interact with each other until later, when Fei and his friends involve themselves in the war to bring Solaris down.

Minor Conflicts - Gebler and Aveh

Gebler might appear to work for Aveh, but in reality they're just pulling Shakhan's strings. ^_~ There isn't any apparent reason for them to care about the country, but obviously they have their reasons for taking a hand in events in that area. Shakhan, of course, is not happy about being a puppet for Gebler. He countermands their orders sometimes, and constantly spies on his superiors - most notably Ramsus and Miang. Unfortunately for him, he isn't much of a threat. (I told you he was an idiot...) ^_~

Minor Conflicts - Ethos and Solaris

(This is a minor spoiler. ^^) As you find out during your second trip to the Ethos Headquarters, the organization is actually a branch of Solaris's Foreign Affairs division. The Ethos's true purpose on the surface is to gather human data via the Etones, and the Battling tournaments in Aveh and Kislev. But lately the Ethos has grown dissatisfied with its position under Solaris, and desired to rule the surface on its own. Bad choice, obviously. Solaris doesn't take betrayal lightly, you know! The two fight it out a few times during the game, and as far as Billy's life goes...... well, it's an important conflict. ^_~
