(I hate the way I wrote this one too, just so you all know. It looks like an eigth grade book report to me, but who am I to judge? Heh.... and as you'll see, I just could not contain my comments at times......) We all know who Krelian (Kareruren) is, don't we? He is Solaris's premier scientist, and the man that stands with Miang in hopes of reviving god -- or rather the weapon, Deus. Krelian started out just as everyone else did, as a normal person...... who just happened to be Animus. We never see his gear in the game, but the Ministry mentions Krelian's Anima Relic alignment along with the others, not far into the second disc. Unless he was in his gear when he ambushed Fei on the ruin of the Eldrige...? Does anybody remember? (Of course, this is all beside the point... anyway, go here to see his character sheet.) During his early life, Kerlian was completely devoted to Sophia. In fact, it becomes fairly obvious that he was in love with her later in the game -- more through Fei's final flashbacks than any scenes that take place in "present day" Xenogears. When Sophia died to save her people from Solaris, he lost faith in humanity -- and the world in general.... "[Where was god when all of this happened?!......If god does not exist in this world]...... I will make god with my own hands!" Krelian abandoned Sophia's teachings and Nisan to carry out his quest to find god, and eventually aligned himself with Solaris. (It isn't clear exactly how that happened, but I'm willing to bet it had something to do with Miang.) Five hundred years later, (in "present day" Xenogears ^_~) Krelian appears again, still working with Solaris and the Gazel Ministry to achieve his goal. He's first mentioned when Stein kidnaps Emerauda, but he doesn't truly show himself until Fei, Elly, and the others are betrayed by Shitan in Solaris. Elly was in his care at that time -- he conducted several tests on her, revealing the "Urobolus Ring" in her DNA (data that 'should not exist', or in other words, memories locked in her DNA) -- and there he first reveals his old feelings for her. While Elly does not know who she truly is, he does recognize her as the woman he loved. (How obvious is it? She only looks exactly like Sophia! ^_~) (Okay, on to the point!) After Elly escapes, Krelian pursues her relentlessly, first sending Ramsus to retrieve her, and finally taking a hand in it himself, ambushing Fei and the others and holding them hostage until she is forced to come and rescue them. After she defeats his genetic soldiers, he releases Fei and the others, and takes Elly (who is by that time very weak - almost dead) to the new carrier for Deus, the Merkava. There, he modified Ramsus's gear one last time, as well as Miang's, and prepared to sacrifice Elly to revive the body of Deus. Once everyone arrives, Krelian has 'crucified' Elly (and she just happens to be wearing Miang's uniform. Coincidence? No.), and he uses Miang to delay them until Ramsus recovers enough to confront him. As Krelian probably planned, Ramsus kills Miang (and Krelian) in a fit of...... something. ^^ Miang is free to return to Elly's body (see this page for more on Elly spoilers), and Elly becomes "True Miang". (yeah, lucky us. ^^) After Elly and Miang merge, Krelian takes her to the now-awakened body of Deus, and they merge with it. From here, you won't see or hear much about Krelian until the last battle -- and aside from a more detailed view on his belief that humanity needs to be eradicated, nothing more is revealed. In the end, he saves Fei and Elly from death, morphs into an angel, and travels to join god.
